Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift discovered a love for music in her early years and quickly progressed from playing in children's shows and then making her first public appearance the front of a crowd. Swift began writing music when she was 11. Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift took inspiration from artists from the country genre, such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks in order to write original music that reflected the loneliness she experienced at 13. Swift was only thirteen when her parents made the decision to sell their Pennsylvania farm to relocate to Hendersonville Tennessee. She could spend all of her energy to approaching label labels from the country scene in Nashville.
